Drowning in AliExpress emails

My most recent order from AliExpress resulted in sixteen emails for a single item 1.

Here’s a breakdown of what I received:

I know from previous experience that I will receive several more emails asking me to confirm that I’ve received the item, as well as an invitation to review the item.

A deliberate strategy?

It would be interesting to know whether AliExpress deliberately choose to send such a high volume of emails (as part of some thoroughly A/B tested sales strategy), or if siloed teams have incrementally added notifications without any overarching oversight. It feels like the latter.


  1. My order contained two items, one of which has been delayed; so I imagine the final, combined, count will be at least double that. 

  2. It’s not useful if I was home when it was delivered.
